Recycled cotton

The yarn that comes from recycled fibres makes the most of existing materials. This means cutting down on the environmental impact and energy costs tied to new cotton crops.

Organic cotton

Grown using natural methods, without pesticides or chemical fertilisers that are harmful to the environment and people. The seeds are not genetically modified and water resources are managed more efficiently compared to standard cotton crops, preserving organic material in the soil.

We were the first in Italy to join Better Cotton, , the world’s largest programme to promote agricultural practices that can improve the cotton industry’s impact on people and the environment.

Better Cotton promotes practices for a more sustainable culture, improving the management of water resources and soil health, and notably reducing the use of pesticides and CO₂ emissions. When does cotton become better?

Among other activities, Better Cotton trains cotton farmers around the world on how to grow Better Cotton in their unique environment and context according to 7 main guiding principles - Better Cotton Standard System - which, if followed by growers, can gain a license to produce and sell Better Cotton. A cotton that is better cotton for themselves and their communities, as well as for the environment. Better Cotton is sourced via a chain of custody system called mass balance. Minimise the harmful impact of crop protection practices

Better Cotton supports farmers in the learning process for Integrated Pest Management, an approach that allows reduced reliance on conventional pesticides by using alternative pest management techniques.

Better Cotton helps them to eliminate the use of Highly Hazardous Pesticides, which represent serious risks for the health of the environment as well as of the workers in the field.

Promote water stewardship

Better Cotton promotes sustainable water use at environmental level, and fair use at economic and social levels. This approach to water stewardship is able to improve crop yields, boost resilience to climate change, minimise the negative impacts on water quality, and allow fair access to water for all.

Good soil management can result in higher yields and better crop quality, reduce labour costs and the use of pesticides and fertilisers.

Healthy soil also has higher resistance to the problems linked to climate change and even helps to mitigate it, since it is better able to carry out its task of absorbing carbon dioxide.
