About me
Sometimes you have a stroke of genius. That becomes an idea and is transformed
into something concrete tangible. This is what happened to Mariangela Negroni, Creative Director
of Funky Table, one of the cool addresses in Milan.
“I worked in marketing and dealt with vintage clothing for years before moving on to design and food. While working in the publishing sector I realised that, when building the photographic sets, some special object, impossible to find, was always missing.
I knew that what I was looking for was somewhere, but not here,”

says Mariangela.

Thus was born the idea of a shop
that would be a treasure chest full of curiosities from around the world, elegant and spirited objects to set the table and furnish corners of the home.

“Before venturing into this business
I bought a series of dishes from Fasano, I put them on Instagram and said to myself ‘if I reach 100 likes I’ll open’. There were many more than that.”

Thankfully for us: at Funky Table
you can find Sicily and Mexico,
France and Tuscany, Africa and northern Europe, Portugal and India... There are no limits or borders in this magical world. Or rather, funky, like
James Brown-lover Mariangela's favourite music. “VI wanted to break the rules, go against convention, bring together many languages and traditions and demonstrate that everything can live together”.

Style
“Style is knowing how to mix things that have different origins. For example, fast fashion pieces with vintage or more precious items. No designer labels: I like to express myself free from trends. I always wear something red and blue. I often change my bag: I must have about a hundred, from the Indian basket to the Senegalese pouch. And only comfortable shoes,
I walk a lot.”
The
Piombo item

“As soon as I entered the showroom it was there looking at me: the denim duster coat, perfect for me.

I wore it with a gingham skirt, a bit like that tablecloths of Funky Table, and with velvet slippers from Friuli.

But I know that it will also go great with corduroy trousers and on its own, like a dress.”
